IRGC works in collaboration with the International Risk Governance Council (Foundation). It acts at the interface between academic research and policy. It operates internationally, primarily in the area of multi-stakeholder risk governance and policy for emerging technologies.
IRGC contributes a risk governance approach to EPFL activities, focusing on how risks can be governed without stifling innovation.
- Identify and analyse existing and emerging risks that both industry and public authorities should be aware of
- Make sense of emerging scientific and technical opportunities that society can benefit from and that the public sector should support with appropriate policy and regulatory strategies
- Act as a neutral platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue on these risks and opportunities
- Provide generic recommendations for risk governance
